One person was killed and eight were wounded in a shooting just outside Legion Field in Birmingham, Alabama, after the annual Magic City Classic football game Saturday night, police said.
Birmingham police chief Michael Pickett said most spectators and families had left the stadium property when the shooting happened nearby, where vendors were set up along Graymont Avenue. He said he was "very grateful that more people weren't injured." The game pits Alabama A&M against Alabama State and is billed as the largest HBCU football game in the country. Details about the shooting were still unclear when the story was reported.
