Rahm Emanuel, who helped engineer the Democratic wave of 2006, told PBS's Geoff Bennett what he thinks Democrats should do after this year's midterms, which he said echo that election.
Israel
Emanuel said nothing can fundamentally change in the U.S.-Israel relationship as long as Benjamin Netanyahu is in power, even leading a weakened coalition, after an Israeli election in which neither major bloc won a governing majority. He said both the person and the policies are the issue.
Midterms
Emanuel, a former Chicago mayor, congressman, White House chief of staff and ambassador to Japan, described a path for Democrats to turn dissatisfaction with a Republican president into a sweeping congressional victory, as in 2006.
