Jeffery Simmons said the trade that sent him from Tennessee to Chicago was a shock, and that the toughest moment was saying goodbye to his young daughter.
How he found out
Speaking at his introductory press conference at Halas Hall on Friday, Simmons said he was eating breakfast with teammates at the Titans facility when his agent called with the news. "Woke up and had no idea what was about to happen or go down," he said. He described "emotions were very high" and said Titans owner Amy Adams Strunk and the organization were "nothing but good to me" during his eight seasons in Tennessee.
The hardest part
The most difficult part of the day, he said, was hugging his three-year-old daughter goodbye before heading to the airport for the flight to Chicago.
Looking ahead
"It's been a lot of emotions the last couple days, but today felt great," he said after practicing with the Bears for the first time.
