The Big 12 says its replay center made a mistake that wrongly gave No. 8 BYU a first-quarter touchdown in its 27-20 win over Arizona State on Saturday.
On BYU's first possession, quarterback Bear Bachmeier fumbled on second-and-goal from the 1 and running back Sione Moa picked it up and ran it in. The league said the ball should have been stopped at the 2-yard line, citing a rule on where a recovered fumble belongs. Officials had first ruled Bachmeier down, then reviewed twice before the replay center in Irving, Texas, overturned it to a touchdown. Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham said he voiced his disappointment and that the officials on the field were not at fault.
