The College Football Playoff selection committee will release its first of six rankings Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. ESPN's projection looks at how the 13-member committee could stack the top 12 after Week 9, including who might jump Ohio State.
The committee meets Monday and finishes Tuesday around lunch, with the task of selecting the best teams and assigning them to the 12-team bracket. ESPN says Miami should be a "no-brainer" for the top spot, with two Heisman candidates in quarterback Darian Mensah and receiver Malachi Toney, four ACC road wins and a strong Strength of Record.
