The Golden State Warriors erased a 25-point deficit to beat the Los Angeles Lakers 112-95 on Friday night, the first team in the past 30 seasons to trail by 25 and win by at least 17. Stephen Curry scored 31 points.
Doncic starts hot
Pregame talk centered on Luka Doncic's rematch with Warriors rookie Yaxel Lendeborg, who had criticized him after their last meeting. Doncic answered with 21 points and five assists in the first quarter, helping the Lakers to a 38-15 lead and later a 25-point cushion.
The comeback
Golden State went on a 38-15 run in the second quarter, with reserves Georges Niang and De'Anthony Melton combining for 27 bench points. Curry then took over, scoring eight points in the third quarter and nine in the fourth and getting a memorable crossover on Doncic. He has 75 points over the last two games. Coach Steve Kerr said that with today's pace and 3-point shooting, "25 is the new 12." Lendeborg said his teammates "had my back."
