PBS NewsHour's Friday news wrap covered a judge's inquiry into Justice Department statements about a Washington, D.C., golf course renovation, new charges the DOJ may bring against James Comey, and Christa Pike's first public statements since her failed execution.
Golf course
Judge Ana Reyes said she will appoint a special master to look into whether officials misled the court or withheld information about renovation plans. Government lawyers say no final plan exists, while President Trump says the course will close next month for 15 months. Earlier in the week the judge barred further work without prior notice. The administration has appealed.
Comey
The DOJ told a judge it may bring more charges against the former FBI director. The judge delayed deciding whether to dismiss a pending case. His lawyers say the statute of limitations has expired, and he says he is innocent.
Pike
Tennessee inmate Christa Pike, 50, said she is in constant pain after her botched execution last month, which followed two doses of lethal injection.
