A plane flew a banner around Doak Campbell Stadium on Saturday before Florida State played Clemson. The banner read "FSU: Fire Novell • Peter Collins," misspelling coach Mike Norvell's name.
Norvell's job security is under pressure after a rough start, and the banner also targeted Peter Collins, chair of the university board of trustees. Because of the typo, ESPN joked that it technically did not call for Norvell's firing. Clemson coach Dabo Swinney later criticized the stunt as "shameful" after his Tigers won 36-24.
