Lexington's high-powered offense gave fans plenty to cheer about Friday night, Oct. 30, as the Tigers beat Dyer County 70-36 to complete a 10-0 regular season. The Jackson Sun's video package highlighted the Tigers' big plays, and the final numbers back up why.
How the offense did it
Quarterback Ross Wilson did most of the damage. He completed 81.3% of his passes for 291 yards and six touchdowns, according to MaxPreps, and added 50 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns for eight total scores. Wide receiver Cameron Smith caught passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns.
Seventy points is a lot even for this team. MaxPreps said Lexington has won six games by more than 32 points this season.
Dyer County fights back
The Choctaws did not go quietly. They scored 36 points in a game in which they were outscored by 34, a sign that the game was more of a shootout than a rout from the defensive side. Dyer County finished at 4-6 and has lost six of its last eight.
The defense
Lexington's defensive line sacked the quarterback seven times. Zach Grissom had three of those sacks.
What it means
The win gave the Tigers their first 10-0 regular season since 2011, according to The Jackson Sun. The full replay of the game is available on the NFHS Network, TSSAA's streaming partner, according to MaxPreps.
