What to know about the latest rulings

Sports · Friday, October 30, 2026

ESPN's Myron Medcalf and Jeff Borzello review the latest eligibility rulings as the college basketball season starts. LSU football, the SEC and the NCAA had a showdown over players, and LSU decided not to roster Dae'Quan Wright and Zxavian Harris after pressure from its own conference.

LSU basketball has its own uncertainty. On Wednesday, 2025 Big East Player of the Year RJ Luis Jr. was granted another temporary injunction, and his lawyer threatens further legal action against LSU and coach Will Wade if Luis is not with the team when the season starts. Luis is one of many players, mostly from high school's Class of 2022, who have fought since June for a season by filing state and federal lawsuits against the NCAA.
