The City of Jackson has named Larry Newsome and Jackie Utley as grand marshals of its 2026 Christmas Parade. The parade is set for Dec. 7 and carries a patriotic theme tied to America's 250th anniversary, billed as "Celebrating 250 Years of Christmas."
WBBJ describes both grand marshals as local historical leaders. Utley said she is honored to be chosen and that it is especially meaningful to be able to celebrate her Revolutionary War ancestors and her family. Newsome said he is deeply honored, especially because the parade is celebrating America 250.
The evening begins with a Christmas tree lighting in front of Jackson City Hall at 5:15 p.m. The parade follows at 6:30 p.m. The event is hosted by the City of Jackson Parks and Recreation department, according to the Downtown Jackson holiday listing.
Groups that want to take part still have time. Parade registration stays open through Nov. 27.
Last year's parade was held on a Monday as well. The 2025 grand marshal was Jackson-Madison County Schools Superintendent Dr. Marlon King, and the 2023 grand marshal was United Way of West Tennessee President Matthew Marshall.
