Tuesday, Nov. 3, is the last day to vote in Tennessee's midterm election. More than 1 million Tennesseans have already voted. The Tennessee Firefly's tracker of Secretary of State data puts the final early and absentee total at 1,280,642, which is 45 percent more than in 2022 and about 7 percent below 2018.
Voters will decide races for U.S. Senate, U.S. House, governor and state lawmakers, and they will vote on three Tennessee constitutional amendments. Henderson County Administrator of Elections Robin Powers told WBBJ her office has prepared for a large turnout and said, "Just come on out and vote."
Where you vote changes on Election Day. During early voting, voters could use any early voting site in their county. On Election Day, voters in most counties must go to their assigned neighborhood precinct, and that is usually not the same place they voted early. Some counties, including Williamson and Wilson, use voting centers instead. The Tennessee Secretary of State's GoVoteTN website and app show each voter's polling place, hours and sample ballot.
Bring a photo ID issued by the State of Tennessee or the federal government. A Tennessee driver's license, U.S. passport, military ID or state handgun carry permit all work, and the ID can be expired. College student IDs are not accepted. A voter without ID can cast a provisional ballot, then has two business days to bring a valid photo ID to the county election commission for the vote to count.
Check with your county election commission for opening times. All polls close at 7 p.m., and anyone in line at 7 p.m. will be allowed to vote.
